The Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry says creating a safe and secure environment is one way to rebuild KZN's economy.

It addressed trade and investment delegates at a BRICS seminar in Durban ahead of next week's crucial summit.
The meeting focused on economic collaboration and attracting foreign investment to South Africa.
Delegates from Brazil, Russia, India and China took part.
The chamber's president Prasheen Maharaj says they have identified five key areas that would help restore the local economy.

"Identification of priority catalytic projects that will stimulate stability and growth. Rapid provision of services, including the expediting of planning approvals and infrastructure development and we must have enough budget allocation for that.
"Finally, restoring investor confidence will be critical to the rebuilding of this city and the province."
Maharaj says BRICS members can partner with Durban and KZN.
"These following areas also represent business opportunities, water and sanitation, electricity distribution and stormwater systems. These challenges are commercial and business opportunities for joint development, innovation as well as technology and skills transfer."
