"It's reported that two men were standing outside their vehicles and talking to each other when they were approached by two unknown gunmen," says KZN police spokesperson Jay Naicker.

"The suspects opened fire on them with high calibre rifles before fleeing the scene on foot. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage. Detectives from Durban central are investigating two counts of murder."

No arrests have been made.

It's the second similar shooting in the city this week.
