A seven-year-old boy was attacked by a dog while walking to a shop in New Germany just outside Durban yesterday, paramedics said.

The boy was accompanied by friends and his 18-year-old sister, ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.
"The dog apparently ran away after the boy's friends managed to pull it off him.
"The boy was then taken home by his sister along with his friends," she said.
When paramedics arrived they found the boy lying on the floor of the lounge with bite wounds and abrasions.
He was treated and then taken to hospital. The cause of the incident is unknown.
