Durban boy, 5, drowns in residential pool
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
Emergency services were called to the home at about 5.30pm yesterday.
It is still unclear how the child fell into the residential swimming pool.
Netcare 911's Chris Botha says all efforts to resuscitate the child proved fruitless.
"Apparently, the neighbour went up to move his car and noticed the child in the pool. He ran across and pulled the child out and started CPR. Our advanced life support paramedics, ambulance crew and the rescue unit arrived there and they took over, put the child onto a ventilator and gave the necessary resuscitation drug.
"However, even after an hour of working fervently on the child, he was declared dead at the scene," he said.
