Durban Beachfront accommodation 'fully booked' ahead of Durban July
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Federated Hospitality Association of Southern Africa says hotels on the Durban Beachfront were fully booked ahead of yesterday's Vodacom Durban July at the Greyville Race Course.
Around two million people travelled to the KZN city for the prestigious horse racing event that was expected to pump around R1 billion into the local economy.
The association's Charles Preece says most people book for the next event when leaving the current event.
"It is like Christmas, holidays and things like that in that people tend to make sure they are covered for the next year because it is an event they want to come back to time and time again," he said.
"I think it is a tradition. This is the most prestigious horse race in the country," Preece said.
