Dube-Ncube vows tight policing during festive season
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube has warned criminals that law enforcement officers will be everywhere and anywhere in the coming weeks.
"We will be in all corners of our province. You will find us on the roadblocks and routes and other key areas like national roads, the rail environment, ports of entry, and the borderline."
Dube-Ncube and other officials launched the Safety Month and the Festive Season Enforcement Campaign in Durban on Friday.
She said the provincial government will adopt a zero-tolerance approach to criminal activity.

She says new technology, including drones, will be used to monitor crimes, among other functions.
"We are also using technology to ensure that we really chase criminals using facial recognition as a way of following up those that are wanted."
Provincial police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi says the cops will also be focusing on the borders of the province.
"Whether coming from outside from another country into KZN or coming from other provinces into KZN, our deployment will be mainly focused in that area and beyond that, we are going to be policing the festive season in full swing from 15 December."
