Dube-Ncube: Efforts to stem GBV tide in KZN bearing fruit
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
KZN Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube says efforts to stem the tide of gender-based violence are paying off.
She says Ntuzuma and Inanda are no longer on the top 30 list of police stations with high cases of rape and sexual assault.
Dube-Ncube says 21 shelters have been opened for abused women and men to help reduce and prevent GBV.
Speaking at a Women's Day event in KwaMashu on Wednesday, the premier said an additional 29 White Door Sites are also in operation.
"Those houses are houses where we can have people we live up until six months, and during those six months, we are able to give them skills so that when they come of that house having to go through rehabilitation, they come out there with a skill to enable their business."
