DSD: Respect the rights of people with disabilities
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
The Department of Social Development is calling on South Africans to respect the rights of disabled people in the country.
Deputy Minister Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu made the comments at the department's graduation ceremony for people with disabilities in Inanda, north of Durban, yesterday.
Bogopane-Zulu says people living with disabilities are capable of learning and achieving the same skills as every citizen.
More than a hundred people received their qualifications in computer studies, as part of Disability Rights Awareness Month, yesterday.
“People must respect the rights of people with disabilities. They must respect them,” Bogopane-Zulu says, “It’s very important that our attitudes towards them change”.
