At the tidal pool at uMdloti, an elderly man got into difficulty while he was swimming, when he was pulled out to the backline.

Netcare 911's Shawn Herbst says the incident happened on Monday afternoon.

"The patient was spotted by lifeguards who swam to the gentleman's aid. Lifeguards pulled the man out of the water who then rapidly started CPR after he was found unresponsive and not breathing.

"When paramedics arrived on scene, a full advanced life support resuscitation was initiated. Despite best efforts the patients condition rapidly deteriorated and he was sadly declared deceased on the scene."

Then at La Lucia Beach, a man, who's believed to have been in his 60s, lost this life.

Other beachgoers called for help when he disappeared under the water.

Herbst says rescue teams have not found yet found the man.
