KZN Cogta sets out drought relief interventions
Updated | By Lethiwe Mdluli
Local government authorities in KZN have welcomed the declaration of the drought as a national disaster.

The announcement was made by Cooperative Governance Minister, Zweli Mkhize yesterday.
KZN Cooperative Governance spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela says the relief funding that comes with this declaration will be a big help.
"Our province was the first to experience drought. We have come out with a number of interventions as a response to the drought that was wreaking havoc in the province.
"We are grateful about this declaration that as the province, we will continue to get relief aid that will help quite a number of our people who bore the brunt of the drought - including emerging farmers," Mayisela said.

Mayisela says while recent rains have helped improve the water levels in some of KZN's dam - we should still continue using the precious resource responsibly.
