Drought: 16 million litres of water donated
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
More than 16 million litres of water have been distributed across the country to drought stricken areas. Humanitarian relief group, Gift of the Givers expects this number to double in the coming months.
The group's Imtiaz Sooliman says the water has been delivered in many forms - in bottles, water tankers and boreholes. He says people are still donating bottled water.
He says residents of some communities were relieved to see them arrive, telling them they had not received water in two months.
Sooliman says they are working on drilling boreholes more carefully so they yield more water.
"With better planning you get better water. At the moment we are planning our distribution to see what we can do and we are going to try and target certain areas. One in Nongoma, one in Vryheid, one in Hluhluwe. We brought the animals feed they were sobbing," he said.
