The third witness has taken the stand.  She works at the eatery and says on the morning of the incident, she reported for duty at 8am.

The child minder told the court that she had to quite her job three months after the attack, as she could no longer cope working there.

"I was no longer coping. If I went to the toilet, I was scared. I was doubting myself [and thinking] whether the same thing will happen again," she testified.

Yesterday, Nicholas Ninow confessed to raping a 7-year-old girl at the Silverton restaurant in September last year.

But, the State said it is not satisfied with Ninow's plea explanation and that it will seek a punishment of life behind bars.

The second witness Johan Lodewyk told the court that the accused was not only drunk on the day, but had also taken drugs.

"The manager was still there. I saw him, he put his right hand into his pocket and took drugs out. He tried to give it to the manager, but the manager told him he did not use drugs," said Lodewyk.

"He then put it back in his pocket."

The case has caused outrage in South Africa, with a video clip of Ninow, apparently filmed after the attack, shared widely on social media.
