Driver linked to Tongaat hit-and-run to remain behind bars

The man arrested in connection with the hit-and-run incident in Tongaat that claimed the lives of two runners will spend the week behind bars.
Alli Mohammed appeared in the Verulam Magistrate's Court on Monday.
He's expected to apply for bail next Monday.
On Saturday, 59-year-old Sunil Parekh and 55-year-old Anil Singh were out on a morning run when a motorist ran them over on Edmund Morewood Road in Trurolands.
The driver fled the scene but later crashed into a taxi.
Mohammed was then arrested.
"The accused facing two counts of culpable homicide, two counts of failure to ascertain injuries, and contravention of the immigration act," says KZN National Prosecuting Authority's spokesperson Natasha Kara.
