Driver killed, 3 hurt in Tinley Manor accident
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
A driver has died while 3 other occupants narrowly escaped death when their car left the road, went down an embankment and landed on railway tracks in Tinley Manor, on the North Coast.
It is not fully understood at this point how the driver lost his control or where they were headed. One of the emergency services that responded immediately after was IPSS medical services and its Paul Herbst says once the car had landed on the tracks a train had been approaching.
He says somehow it just managed to stop on time avoiding hitting the car with the occupants inside.
"An oncoming train managed to stop in time before hitting the car. IPSS' medical rescue together with the Search and Rescue division alongside the fire department used Jaws of Life free the occupants", Herbst said.
"Unfortunately the driver was declared dead on arrival of paramedics. All patients were treated and transported to the nearest hospital for further medical care", he said.
