Dlamini-Zuma remarks show undivided support for President, says analyst

Political analyst, Somadoda Fikeni says Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma's comments made during a speech in Sasolburg in the Free State last week indicates she has aligned herself with the dominant faction of the ANC.

He believes the former chairperson of the African Union Commission has sided with Jacob Zuma by endorsing his call for radical economic transformation. 

Fikeni says Dlamini-Zuma failed to address concerns around poor governance.

"She did not pronounce on the matter of state capture, the Guptas, corruption which seemed to paralyse the state - nor did she pronounce on the challenges facing SOEs," he said. 

Fikeni says Dlamini-Zuma never touched on issues raised by society at the moment. 

"Her emphasis was more on discipline - not to criticise leaders in public. But discipline must also come with certain principles that leaders who are being criticised ought to have adhered to," he said.
