Divided reaction to KZN SOPA 2017
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
There's been mixed reaction to the Premier's State Of the Province Address.

Willies Mchunu delivered his speech at the Royal Show Grounds in Pietermaritzburg yesterday - saying the KZN government's been voted number one in a Top Companies Reputation Index.
Speaking to members of the Provincial Legislature and guests, he says a lot of effort is going into ensuring an increase in the province's doctor-population ratio.

The DA's Mbali Ntuli says one of the concerns though remains the staggering unemployment rate in the province.
"The Premier's speech today was business as usual for KZN. Nothing has changed, in fact. The most shocking things was the economic forecasting that he mentioned. We see that we've contracted quite a lot in terms of the unemployment rate. We're down to 23,3%," she said.

Meanwhile, the NFP's Vikizitha Mlotshwa feels the speech failed to address issues raised by protesting students.
"The Premier was supposed to tell us how he was going to assist learners at DUT - especially relating to recent protests. We were looking for the Premier to tell us how much has been set aside to assist the students," he said.
