Disruptive rain expected in parts of KZN
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The SA Weather Service says KZN will be quite chilly this weekend with heavy rain expected in parts of the province and a possible chance of snow.
"We're expected mostly 60% chances of rain over the southern parts of the province, with mostly isolated over the northern parts. We have an alert out for disruptive rain mainly for the extreme southern parts of the province, a yellow level 2. For areas in Ugu, we have a yellow level 4 alert out for disruptive rain that might lead to flooding,” says forecaster Ayanda Ntsele.
Ntsele says it has to do with the cold front that hit parts of the country on Thursday.
A 60% to 80% chance of widespread showers and thundershowers are also expected on Sunday.
"There is a possibility that there might be an extension of an alert as well of disruptive rain up until Sunday. For Monday we still expecting mostly cold and rainy conditions with 60% over the eastern parts of the province but isolated over the interior. There is also a possibility of some snowfall over Lesotho maybe even reaching the southern Drakensberg side of KZN," says Ntsele.
