Disgruntled Verulam residents threaten protests over water outages
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Disgruntled residents in Trenance Park are demanding answers from local officials on
ongoing water outages in Verulam, north of Durban.
Some say their taps ran dry 19 days ago after water levels dropped at Reservoir 3 on Madrona Drive.
"There's not enough water to give to the residents, there's no plan from the officials or provisions from the officials so we can get the supply of water but our cries are falling on deaf ears," says Kovillan Naidoo, who's with the Trenance Park New Phase Civic Association.
He says they feel their plight is being overlooked.

"This matter has been taken up several times. For the last two weeks, we've requested meetings with the councillors and officials at the eThekwini water department and the residents have been receiving no joy.
"It's gone to a point where they are now aggravated and are taking to the streets and talking about protest action which is the last resort."
