DIRCO monitoring security concerns

Yesterday, the department said embassies and consulates in parts of the continent have been fielding queries from South Africans there.

Many apparently fear for their safety.The department's Lunga Ngqengelele says they in contact with embassies, especially in Nigeria.
"We are monitoring the situation through our embassies in Nigeria. We are happy that there are no questions around diplomatic ties, just people expressing concern about safety."
