Didiza assures KZN food supply issues receiving urgent attention

Agriculture Minister Thoko Didiza says the food supply chain problems in KwaZulu-Natal are receiving urgent attention from government.

She held a food and agriculture sector meeting on Thursday to discuss challenges of access in the province and parts of Gauteng following days of violence.
Didiza has set up a team to follow-up on all issues raised in the meeting.
She’s urging us to avoid panic buying in other provinces so as to not interrupt the food supply chains there.
Didiza's assured South Africans there’s enough food supplies in the country.

"I wish to thank all stakeholders for their continued commitment to the agricultural sector and also urge our people to be vigilant and protect both government and private infrastructure as it plays a critical role in the production and transportation of food to all citizens.
"We should also avoid panic buying in other provinces of the country so that the food supply chains can continue functioning, uninterrupted, at an appropriate pace and serve our nation’s food needs.
"We have sufficient food supplies in the country, the immediate problem in supply chains for the KwaZulu-Natal are getting urgent attention."
