DEVELOPING: ‘Active hostage situation’ in Durban CBD

KwaZulu-Natal police have confirmed that there's a hostage situation unfolding in the Durban city centre.
"There is a hostage situation at Anton Lembede street. It just happened almost an hour ago," says police spokesperson Thembeka Mbele.
The person is believed to be armed.
Emer-G-Med's Kyle van Reenen says emergency services are there.
"Emer-G-Med paramedics are currently standing by on the scene on Anton Lembede street, along with various law enforcement agencies, following reports of an active hostage situation.
"At this stage, the scene is under the direct control of the South African Police Services."
