DENOSA concerned about safety of student nurses as med schools reopen
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa's (DENOSA) national student movement says it's concerned about the safety of student nurses - as tertiary institutions prepare to reopen for some med students.
Those in their final year of nursing are expected to return to complete their clinical practicals at various health facilities.
The group's chairperson, Nathaniel Mabelebele says with the country battling the COVID-19 pandemic - it's a risky move.
"Focus on theory now, and then the integration will happen once it is safe for students to go back to the ward, because right now should a student go into a ward and encounter a problem, what will we say?" he questioned.
