'Deliberate malfunction' at Eskom power plants: Gordhan
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan says sabotage, fraud and theft remains a big problem at Eskom.
He says more law enforcement will be brought in to mitigate the deliberate malfunctioning happening at power plants.
Briefing the nation on Friday, Gordhan said this includes the mixing of coal, oils, delay in transportation which leads to the exploitation of financial resources.
"At some of the power stations there’s a deliberate climate of resistance to better performance to making sure the right kind of operations are undertaken.
“Even experienced operators appear to deliberately make sure that there’s malfunction of key parts of the power station,” Gordhan said.
Gordhan said further steps are going to be taken.
