Decrease in rhino poaching for 2018
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
At least 42 rhinos have been poached so far this year.

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife's Musa Mntambo says it's a decrease compared to previous years.
Mntambo says community members who alerted authorities about possible poachers have contributed significantly to the decline.
Meanwhile, Environmental Affairs has commended the efforts of teams working tirelessly to crack poaching syndicates.
In the last week, two suspects were killed and ten others arrested during anti-poaching operations at the Kruger National Park.

A police officer based in Skukuza, Mpumalanga, was among those arrested. While hunting rifles, ammunition, and poaching equipment were recovered during the arrests.
"We're working through the integrated strategic management approach which involves departments like Justice, Police, Correctional Services, and SanParks as well as SARS. These are important in ensuring that interventions are entered into and that we continue to nip this problem in the bud," spokesperson Albie Modise said.
