The Basic Education Department says Minister Angie Motshekga now has in her possession the report compiled by the task team that led the probe.

The results of 2089 pupils in KwaZulu-Natal and 778 pupils in the Eastern Cape were withheld over suspicions they cheated.

The department's spokesperson, Elijah Mhlanga says exam quality assurer, uMalusi is expected to meet with the department this week to discuss the issue.

"All the necessary processes have since taken place and the different committees that consider the evidence gathered have also gone through the information and decisions are about to be made. Before we publish anything uMalusi will have to consider the recommendations and then make a decision as far as the sanctions are concerned, especially those that have been found guilty," he said.
