Death of two KZN nurses a huge loss: Health MEC
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC, Sibongiseni Dlomo says the deaths of two nurses at Osindisweni Hospital are a tremendous loss to the KwaMashu-based institution.
He attended a service at the hospital to honour the women's memory.
Mbalenhle Biyela, the mother of an 18-month year toddler, was shot and killed outside Oakford Clinic last Wednesday.
On Sunday, 40-year-old Sphindile Nene collapsed while working in the theatre. Dlomo's paid tribute to the women.
"It's the first time ever where I've visited a hospital and within three days - there are two deaths. Both of them were sudden and unexpected in the way that it happened. So, I came here to offer condolences. While we all have felt the loss as a department - the loss of the hospital and clinic is more than ours."
