Deadline set for residents in Cato Crest land invasion case
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Human of Settlements has welcomed a request for more clarity by the Durban High Court - in a land invasion case.

It wants residents who have illegally occupied land in Durban's Cato Crest area to provide the court with valid reasons on why they should not be evicted from the area and their shacks removed.
They have been given until Friday to make their submission.
The department's Mbulelo Baloyi says the land in question is earmarked for housing development but they cannot move forward with the building project because it is being occupied.
"The department together with eThekwini Municipality has taken a zero tolerance stance towards land invasion. This frustrates efforts to try to orderly provide accommodation with respect to housing information to our people."
