Members of several portfolio committees have been meeting with Eskom's board and management at Megawatt Park in Johannesburg about the electricity supply shortage.

The utility's CEO Andre de Ruyter has told them Tutuka is riddled with corruption.

"This is the station that is captured by crime and corruption, this is the station where we stopped the theft of R100 million worth of fuel oil per month."

De Ruyter has also disputed reports the power utility is accelerating the shutdown of some of the power stations.

"Offering the perception that we are not abiding by government policy but shutting down stations earlier, this table shows very clearly that we are non-compliant with policy to the other extreme.

"We are delaying the shutdown of power stations, we are going more slowly than government policy indicates."
