Date set for motion of no confidence debate
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete has scheduled the debate for the motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma for August 3.
This is only days after the start of Parliament's new term.
Parliamentary spokesperson Moloto Mothapo says Mbete is still applying her mind on whether the vote following the debate will be done through a secret ballot.
"She has invited political parties, as part of that process of considering the matter, to submit their standpoint with regard to whether they believe there is a need for this motion to be conducted through a secret ballot," says Mothapo.
Moloto says Mbete will consider the submissions, together with other factors, before making her decision.
"The decision will be made before the motion is debated."
