DA's motion of no confidence 'premature'

It appears the DA's motion of no confidence against President Zuma in Parliament tomorrow is already dead in the water.

The ANC will vote against it because it says the DA's motions have become ritualistic practices founded on spurious allegations and narrow political motives rather than substance.

The DA tabled the motion before the release of the State of Capture Report and had since appealed to ANC members in Parliament to vote with their consciences.

ANC parliamentary spokesperson, Molotho Mothapo, says the ruling party supports the recommendation in the State Capture Report that a Commission be established to get to the bottom of the vexing matter of State Capture.

"Our commitment to fighting corruption remains unwavering and therefore if indeed thereafter the Commission of Inquiry has conducted it's work it proves that the state capture has occurred and some of our comrades are implicated, we will not hesitate to be the ones to table a motion of no confidence but at the moment there are no conclusive findings on the state capture report. Therefore, the DA is premature by bringing this kind of motion at this stage," he said.
