In a new revelation, a publication reveals that a bat in the evidence of the Oscar Pistorius trial may not have been used to only bash down the door after the fatal shooting as heard in court.

Forensic expert brothers, who carried out various tests, say Pistorius' girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp sustained injuries prior to locking herself in the bathroom.

Calvin and Thomas Mollett have detailed this in their new book, Oscar vs The Truth.

The former Paralympian shot and killed Steenkamp when he fired four shots into the door of a toilet cubicle in his Pretoria home in 2013.

During trial proceedings, Pistorius told the court he mistook her for an intruder.

The Daily Maverick reports that according to the brothers, this may have been overlooked in the pathologist’s report and testimony.

Here's a excerpt from the Introduction: “In this book we look very carefully at Oscar’s version by examining the crime-scene photographs, relevant reports and the testimony of various witnesses in order to answer one question: Did Oscar know Reeva was behind the door?”

Initially, Pistorius was convicted of culpable homicide - a ruling replaced with a conviction of murder in the Supreme Court of Appeal.
