Daily Covid-19 fatalities fall to lowest levels this year

The National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) has recorded an increase of seven Covid-19 related deaths in the 24 hours leading up to Monday evening, the lowest daily fatalities rate since before the start of the third wave.
Statistics released by the NICD on Monday show that South Africa’s Covid-19 death toll now stands at 88 619.
A further 210 new cases were also recorded.
This is a positivity rate of 1.2%, a rate which has also dropped to its lowest level in months.
Hospital admissions have fallen to below the 5 000 mark, with 4 935 people currently receiving treatment for Covid-19 related complications in public and private health facilities.
Private hospitals account for 2 906 and public hospitals for 2 029 patients.
A total of 15,026 tests were conducted in the last 24hrs with 210 new cases, which represents a 1.4% positivity rate. A further 7 #COVID19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 88,619 to date. Read more here: https://t.co/wiGEdcLQh5 pic.twitter.com/FTeQK2588E
