DA submits Zondo findings in case against ANC
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The DA has submitted the findings of the commission of inquiry into state capture as additional evidence to their criminal racketeering case against the ANC.
The party approached the NPA in 2019 to request it to move with speed in charging the ANC for crimes of fraud, corruption, money laundering and racketeering as per the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
DA chief whip Natasha Mazzone and national spokesperson Cilliers Brink submitted their supplementary evidence along with the four Zondo reports at the Cape Town police station.
Brink says it's high time those responsible for the looting and capture of the state are punished.
"We are lodging criminal charges against the Africa National Congress, which we believe and which the Zondo commission has confirmed has acted like a criminal enterprise. The ANC is at the heart of state capture in South Africa.
"We wrote to the head of prosecuting authority in 2019 to investigate criminal charges against the ANC as an organisation and noting came of that, but now we have the evidence procured by the Zondo commission justifying such an investigation and such a charge.”
