DA slams Kaunda for 'degenerating' recycling programme
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The DA in eThekwini has called on Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda to ensure a proper recycling programme in the city.

Deputy caucus leader Mzamo Billy says they conducted an oversight visit to the Buffelsdraai landfill site in Verulam.
Last week 18 waste pickers were shot at the site, resulting in one death.
It's understood people were scavenging for food, plastic and scrap metal before the site's security personnel confronted them.
Eight people, including security guards, have been arrested.
Billy believes the city has failed in its recycling efforts, saying the orange bag project is evidence of this.
"The orange bag recycling programme, which at some point was worth over R90 million, if it collapsed under the watch of Kaunda and the ANC and to this date, the city does not have a recycling programme in place which means that all the waste is being dumped into landfill sites which is completely illegal."
