DA secures trial date against eThekwini for sewage and water crisis

Durban
ratepayers say although they are pleased to see some progress being made,
there's still a long way to go until the city's sewage and water issues are
resolved.
The DA in KZN says it's obtained a trial date to address the water crisis.
The Pietermaritzburg High Court's scheduled to hear the matter from the 8th of August.
The party's alleged in court papers that the eThekwini Municipality hasn't been transparent about sewage spills and how they've harmed Durban's beaches. Allison Schoeman is with the Bluff Ratepayers Association:
"We welcome any action taken by any political parties that highlight and expose the current issues relating to water and sewage in the city. Sadly, securing a court date does not mean the case will be finalised on that date considering it is only in August. So much damage could be done in the meantime."
Ish Prahladh represents the eThekwini Ratepayers and Residents Association.
"The sewage system is really bad. We have been asking the municipality to take us to the treatment plants and show us exactly what is happening."
