DA plans mass march against ongoing tax hikes
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The DA says it will soon announce plans for citizen mass action against what it is calling the ongoing tax burden.
The party says South Africans are suffering due to tax hikes which include VAT and the fuel levy. It says the weaker Rand is not helping matters either.
According to the opposition party's calculations, when a motorist fills up their tank - about 33 percent of the money they spend goes directly into State coffers.
The DA's Solly Malatsi says mobilisation for the campaign as well as a petition will take place under the hashtag, #StopTheTaxAttack.

"Ordinary citizens and in this regard mostly poor South Africans are carrying the heaviest burden of the fuel increases. This is a result of the State's mismanagement of the economy that is contributing to continuing fuel increases.
"We are of the view that there's some relief that government should facilitate towards poor South Africans," Malatsi said.
