DA names incoming deputy mayor for uMngeni
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The Democratic Alliance (DA) expressed confidence in the incoming deputy mayor for uMngeni Local Municipality, saying Sandile Mnikathi would be an effective leader in the Midlands administration.
Mnikathi and mayor-elect Chris Pappas will work side-by-side, after the opposition party won the municipality in last week's local government elections.
KwaZulu-Natal party leader Francois Rodgers says the 26-year-old is ready for the job.
"Sandile has a proven political track record in the DA and this was proven just last week when he was able to win a ward off the ANC in the local government elections.
"The DA has full faith in Sandile and his leadership and believe that alongside the mayor-elect Pappas, we will be able to rebuild Umgeni to the shining example of how a transparent, corrupt-free municipality can deliver services to it's residents."
