DA: Magashule to face justice for Free State corruption
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The DA says it's vindicated by their move to lay charges
against former Free State premier Ace Magashule for his alleged involvement in
the asbestos housing project.
This after the fourth state capture report found that the Free State Human Settlements Department was used to siphon funds meant for the poor.
It says the money went into the pockets of ANC politicians and contractors.
It has recommended that senior politicians, including the former MEC Mosebenzi Zwane, must be investigated for fraud in the R1 billion housing scandal
But the commission has made no recommendation against Magashule.
He's facing charges of corruption, fraud, theft and money laundering alongside 15 co-accused.
The Free State DA's Leona Kleynhans says they are happy the masterminds of this fraud have not been spared.

"The Democratic Alliance is pleased that after seeking justice for 7 years the State Capture Commission has finally confirmed that political leaders are accountable for what goes on in the government.
"The report is scathing on the failure of leadership and the failure to intervene effectively in the Free State Department of Human Settlements by former Premier Ace Magashule. We believe he will finally face justice for turning a blind eye to corruption."
