DA, IFP sign KZN service delivery pact
Updated | By Newswatch
The Democratic Alliance and Inkatha Freedom Party in KwaZulu-Natal have strengthened their working relationship in the province.
The two parties have signed a service delivery pact in Durban, which they say is historic.
The IFP and DA started working together late last year in a joint bid to remove the ANC from power in KZN.
Their arrangement included one party stepping back, withdrawing its candidate, and throwing its support behind the other in by-elections where the other party’s candidate has a better chance of winning.

On Tuesday morning, they agreed to a pact whose objectives are to ensure access to basic services, sustainable electricity supply and jobs and investment in local economies in the hung municipalities where they have seats.
In a joint statement, the two parties say the deal will bring much needed stability in councils where they work together.
They say they want to be held accountable and gain the trust of supporters, and therefore will be publishing the agreement in the spirit of transparency.
