The party is going into its Federal Congress tomorrow.

Either Ntuli or John Steenhuisen will emerge as Federal Leader.

Newswatch has caught up with the two candidates - ahead of the elective conference.

Ntuli says it's been important for her to understand every sphere in politics.

"I have no doubt that being in parliament is not going to be different in terms of the legislation that I am doing already, it might just be a different scale."

"But that should never be something that disqualifies a person because it's like saying that you can not do a job if you've never done it before. Of course, because you've never done it before so I think there have been some logical fallacies when people have raised that as a point of concern," she said.

Under her leadership,  Ntuli says she wants to concentrate on heightening the DA's visibility in communities where they fall short.

She also says she envisions expanding the leadership pool if she wins.

"I think what's actually a struggle organization is for the leader to make sure that she or he is creating more leaders around them to take some of the brunt of that work."

"But there's a lot of minutiae in a political party's administration that a leader should not be involved in but we see this happening because people want to have such a stranglehold on how things are done," she added.

"I don't think that that's the way that anyone should be leading and certainly that's not going to be my style of leadership."

On the virtual election this weekend she says, "Win or lose, the first thing I'll do is reach out to John Steenhuisen and his team and just appreciate the formidable campaign that they have run as well."

"It's been really great for the contestation of ideas in our country and in the party to be seen. If I win, obviously, my first call is going to be trying to get around  to make sure that we actually have a plan going into our local government elections."
