DA fails in another bid to dissolve eThekwini council

The DA in KZN says it's disappointed by its failed attempt to have the eThekwini council dissolved.

It has blamed other parties, including the NFP, ATM and ACDP for not supporting the motion at Wednesday's meeting at the Durban ICC.

The DA tabled the motion, citing concerns over the deteriorating state of the city.

The party's Thabani Mthethwa said they're not backing down.

"We're not going to give up. We'll keep fighting. We are going to do anything legally to resubmit this motion if needed."

The ANC, EFF and other parties voted against the motion.

ActionSA’s Zwakele Mncwango said they supported the DA’s bid.

"We do believe there is instability in the municipality as well as a vacuum of leadership. We also see the blame game played by the ANC and the EFF in the running of the municipality, including other smaller parties, but the report did highlight the challenges faced by the municipality."
