DA 'excited' over considered motion to dissolve eThekwini council

The Democratic Alliance in eThekwini says it's excited that it's motion to dissolve the eThekwini council will be considered next year.

This week, eThekwini Speaker Thabani Nyawose confirmed that the notice of motion would be considered in January 2024.
DA caucus leader Mzamo Billy says they brought the motion a week ago due to concerns about the deteriorating state of the city.

He says they are still having discussions with other parties to support the motion by a two-thirds vote.
"We are excited about this. We have been engaging other parties to support the motion which came as a result of our councillors being inundated with messages from communities about the inefficiency of this municipality which as got failing infrastructure from water to electricity - with constant water outages in parts of the city which includes Phoenix, Umhlanga, Durban North, Ntuzuma and many other areas.”
