DA elective conference 2020: what you need to know
The countdown to the Democratic Alliance (DA) leadership elective federal congress is in full swing with the party announcing their final candidates who will go head-to-head for top positions.
The DA Federal Congress 2020 scheduled for 31 October and 1 November - will take place virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic and "also from a variety of venues being made available nationwide," the party said.
Interim leader, John Steenhuisen will contest for the leadership position former youth leader Mabli Ntuli - whose been on the campaign trail since February.
Steenhuisen took over the reins from Mmusi Maimane - who resigned as party leader and Member of Parliament in October last year after the election of Helen Zille to the party's Federal Council chairperson.
The 2020 party hopefuls are also set for a two-hour long two-part internal debate showdown on 26 and 28 October.
Current Chairperson of Federal Council, Helen Zille will battle it out with Mike Moriarty for the position.
Three positions - Federal Finance Chairperson, Deputy Chairpersons of Federal Council and Federal Chairperson will go uncontested.
