DA conference 2020: Voting underway
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Voting in the DA has now begun to determine who the next party leader will be.
An experienced John Steenhuisen is going up against a younger and energetic Mbali Ntuli in a leadership race run by candidates who are both from KZN.
Voting is expected to close at around 5.30pm today with all tallied and verified results announced tomorrow afternoon.
This weekend's national elective congress is being held to replace former leader Mmusi Maimane who'd stepped down. Making her final push Mbali Ntuli said she would make sure the DA is not a party that excludes.
"To show every single person in the country and every single party in the party that they can belong to the Democratic Alliance. That we will fight for them, never scapegoat them and ensure they have a future in this country", she said.
Her running opponent John Steenhuisen said the DA will embark on a new journey.
"Under my watch gone are the days of spending more by buying smart tablets rather than training activists. Gone are days of Facebook politicians taking credit for the hard work of our activists and gone are the days of people being parachuted into positions at the expense of our hard-working members", he said.
