DA: Cele must stop 'second-guessing' ConCourt, arrest Zuma
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen has urged Police Minister Bheki Cele to arrest former president Jacob Zuma.
The Constitutional Court sentenced Zuma to 15 months in jail for contempt for failing to appear before the commission of inquiry into state capture.
The Pietermaritzburg High Court heard Zuma's application to have his arrest order stayed on Tuesday.

Judgment in the application is expected to be handed down on Friday.
Cele and National Commissioner Khehla Sitole, who were directed to arrest Zuma should he fail to hand himself over, subsequently wrote to the apex court to seek clarity on the impact of the ongoing court applications on the order.
But Steenhuisen believes Cele needs to act on the Constitutional Court’s instruction.
“It is extraordinary that a police minister and police commissioner would second guess a judgment of the highest court in South Africa and try to use that as an excuse not the execute the responsibility that has been instructed on them by the ConCourt.

“Cele need to ensure that that warrant its effected, Cele and national commissioner must ensure that law is respected. If they are not willing to uphold the law they must step aside, so that we can have a minister and commissioner who are ready to do the work.”
