Party leader John Steenhuisen briefed the media on Tuesday.

Zuma was on Tuesday morning found guilty of contempt by the Constitutional Court for his refusal to appear at the commission of inquiry into state capture.

He was slapped with a 15-month jail term.

Steenhuisen described it as one of the most important rulings by the apex court.

"It confirms that no one can stand above the law in South Africa, not even a former president who still enjoys strong support within the ruling party.

"Mr Zuma, who steadfastly dodged his day in court over a decade, claiming his day in court is what he wanted, has run out of runway.

"We call on Mr Zuma to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies and to hand himself over to begin to serve his sentence."

The former president has been given five calendar days from Tuesday to hand himself over to the police at Nkandla or the Johannesburg Central Prison.
