The corruption trial against the former president and arms manufacturer, Thales is set to begin on the 17th of May in Maritzburg.

They’re facing racketeering, corruption, money laundering, and fraud charges relating to the arms deal.

The trial's first session will run for a month. The DA's Shadow Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Glynnis Breytenbach says The DA is delighted with the news, "Ex-president Jacob Zuma will finally get his day in court and I'm sure we will all be looking forward to that with a great amount of anticipation. It's taken way more than a decade to get this matter into court and to finally have a trial date we look forward to it.”

The IFP's Mkhuleko Hlengwa says he has always indicated that he wants his day in court and therefore this is an opportunity for him to rise above the public courts of opinion which has been a thorn in his side and will eventually now have an opportunity before a credible court have his matter heard, tried and adjudicated.
