D-Day for Ramaphosa as ANC votes for new leaders

Delegates at the ANC’s national conference at Nasrec in Johannesburg are expected to choose new party leaders on Sunday.
Incumbent Cyril Ramaphosa will face off against Zweli Mkhize for the presidency after Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma declined a nomination.
The ANC will have a new deputy president after David Mabuza also declined a nomination by delegates.
A total of 4 426 voting delegates will choose the party’s next leaders.

Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola, Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane and his counterpart in Limpopo Stan Mathabatha will fight it out to be second-in-charge.
List of candidates contesting top 7:
* Candidates for president: Cyril Ramaphosa, Zweli Mkhize
* Candidates for deputy president: Ronald Lamola, Oscar Mabuyane and Paul Mashatile
* Candidates for chairperson: Gwede Mantashe, David Masondo and Stanley Mathabatha
* Candidates for secretary general nominations: Mdumiseni Ntuli, Phumulo Masualle and Fikile Mbalula.
* Candidates for first deputy secretary general: Nomvula Mokonyane and Tina Joemat-Pettersson
* Candidates for second deputy secretary general: Maropene Ramokgopa and Ronalda Nalumango
* Candidates for treasurer: Bejani Chauke, Pule Mabe, Mzwandile Masina and Gwen Ramokgopa.
* The voting process is expected to kick-off on Sunday morning.
