Cyclone Freddy to make landfall in SA at weekend hitting KZN, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and JHB

The South African Weather Service says tropical Cyclone Freddy, which slammed into Madagascar this week, is expected to lash the north-eastern parts of South Africa this weekend until Monday.

The cyclone first hit Mauritius before barrelling into Madagascar, claiming the lives of five people.
Forecaster Wisani Maluleke says the storm is set to bring heavy rains and strong winds to KwaZulu-Natal's Umkhanyakude, Zululand and Amajuba districts.

He says it looks like Freddy will develop into a moderate tropical cyclone, after sweeping through southern Mozambique on Friday morning.
"The area which will be mainly impacted are Mozambique, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and parts of Johannesburg.
"KwaZulu-Natal, as well as the north-eastern parts. There is a possibility in terms of an impact of heavy rain fall leading to flooding, especially on Saturday and Sunday."
