Criminal charges laid against ANCYL's Collin Maine
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Congress of the People (Cope) has laid criminal charges against African National Youth League (ANCYL) President, Collin Maine.
Cope spokesperson Dennis Bloem says the charges were laid after Maine called on Umkhonto we Sizwe veterans to take up arms to defend the revolution in Ethekwini yesterday.
“Maine’s utterances may just spark the country into anarchy. His utterances are also in violation of the Constitution” he said.
The charges were laid at the Garsfontein Police station in Pretoria.
Bloem says the statement belongs in the past and must be left there.
“We will never allow anyone to make such reckless and inflammatory statements that can cost the lives of our people,” he said.
The ANCYL could not be reached for comment.
